Fang Hua (You Touched Me)
The novel Fang Hua (You Touched Me) centers on a “touching” incident involving model hero Liu Feng and the female singer he secretly loves, unfolding a story set within a military performance troupe of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army. Set in the waning days of the Cultural Revolution in the 1970s, inside an old red-brick building in a southwestern city, a group of young military men and women in the prime of their youth experience love and betrayal, desire and confinement, war and survival. The story weaves through the emotional entanglements and intersections of characters such the simple-hearted “good man” Liu Feng, the collectively ostracized He Xiaoman, the pampered princess Lin Dingding, and the narrator Xiao Suizi. Their paths diverge dramatically over four decades, leading to life outcomes both vastly different and unexpectedly connected.
《芳华》围绕着英雄楷模人物刘峰对其暗恋的女歌手发生的“触摸事件“展开，讲述了在某部队文工团中发生的故事。远在七十年代的文革尾声中，西南城市一座老旧红楼中，一群正值青春的少年少女军人，经历的爱与背叛，情欲与禁锢的，战争与生存的情感史，甚至可谓现代军中亦不无“红楼幽梦”，或是无论和平与战争，皆为“怎一个情字了的”！质朴善良的“好人”刘峰，与被集体歧视的何小曼，以及天之骄女林丁丁，故事叙事萧穗子等人的情感缠绕、交集，跨越四十余年大相庭径又出人意料的人生归宿。
2017年4月，小说经审查与删改之后首版与北京，同年12月15日，由作者本人编剧、冯小刚执导、黄轩主演的电影“芳华“在中国和世界各地上演。
海外再版《芳华》的目的之一，是将未经审查的原稿文本呈现给读者。
In April 2017, the novel's first edition was published in Beijing after censorship and revisions. On December 15th of the same year, the film Fang Hua (Youth), written by the author, directed by Feng Xiaogang, and starring Huang Xuan, premiered in China and worldwide.
A key purpose of this overseas edition is to present the uncensored original version to readers.
